About Lake Affect

Open air can be the catalyst to an open mind. Each summer, we aim to give a group of kids from Chicago the opportunity to indulge in simple pleasures that might not otherwise be available to them: jumping off a dock into cool water, hiking a trail through a wooded area, roasting marshmallows over an open fire. It takes courage to try something new in an unfamiliar environment. We hope our campers take that “Lake Affect” home with them. Just as Ripples Make Waves, small joys can inspire big dreams.
